Meant to Bean!

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

BANZO BUTTER FAQ

ARE YOUR PRODUCTS MADE IN AN ALLERGEN-FREE FACILITY?

The short answer is not yet. The biggest goal we have is to work toward obtaining a facility where we can produce this product free-from the top 14 food allergens and gluten-free. We currently have the intent to sell jars until we produce enough money to sustain ourselves in that allergen-free facility (which we found, hooray). We implore you to follow along on this journey, and we sincerely cannot wait and will not stop until our friends with food allergies, no matter the severity, can have their first bite.

Please check the QR code on our label for more allergen information!

WHAT'S THE DEAL WITH TEAL?

The color teal is present on packaging and in every aspect of our decision-making. Teal is the color of food allergy awareness. Our product itself allows for eating inclusion, but the brand also promotes awareness, which we believe is equally important.

IS THIS JUST GLORIFIED HUMMUS?

Nope! Our taste and texture is more closely related to a nut butter spread than hummus. Additionally, we have made our garbanzo bean spread sweet, not savory.

DOES BANZO BUTTER NEED REFRIGERATION?

It can be without refrigeration, but also tastes great when colder! Regardless of temperature, make sure you stir the oil back in frequently.

IS BANZO BUTTER KOSHER, GLUTEN-FREE, AND NON-GMO?

We do not have certifications for these, but we plan to have kosher and gluten-free certifications as we grow. Our spreads are inherently non-GMO, and we urge consumers to do research into the food science of GMOs to learn more.

HOW DO YOU PRONOUNCE BANZO BUTTER?

Bon-zo Butter :)

HOW DO YOU CONTRIBUTE TO A HEALTHIER FUTURE?

Banzo Butter’s primary ingredient is garbanzo beans which actually help the Earth by releasing nitrogen into the soil (called nitrogen fixing). In addition, we never use palm oil, as almost all competitors do, because it has been named a major cause for deforestation. In regard to packaging, our jars are glass to promote reusing and less chemical leaching. One of our goals is to promote sustainability. We love Earth, and we aim to keep it healthy.

We also love all the human “beans” that live on Earth! Consumers are trusting us, and we hold that to a high standard and ask questions when we do not know. Our team has reached out to countless professionals on food science topics including sweeteners, oil oxidation, food safety, and additives such as gums and emulsifiers. Thus, we hope to provide consumers with a nutrition label and ingredient list that are full of potential health benefits. Additionally, we are packed with fiber for healthier guts! We envision Banzo Butter’s transparency of science and nutrition to be a catalyst for the spread industry, to help consumers make healthier and more informed decisions.

Besides the physical health of the Earth and all of us paying rent on it, we also heavily focus on creating a future with better mental health for our consumers. One of our co-founders, Amy, is a huge advocate for others dealing with mental health challenges because she herself deals with a few. Generally seen as a deterrent, these challenges have shaped Amy into the entrepreneur she is: the analytical, problem-solving foodie and the driven lover of people. For this reason, the company wishes to improve the mental health of people struggling to fit in for a variety of reasons.

People with allergies are sometimes unable to enjoy seemingly simple situations such as a birthday party or going out to brunch due to the anxiety and paranoia of getting ill from contaminated food. Unfortunately, there are countless people who are bullied because they have food allergies. The co-founders have seen this unfair reality plague some of our friends and family, and it is unacceptable. With Banzo Butter as an option on the shelf, we hope to ease the minds of consumers.

Just like a spring break destination in Cancun, we are an all-inclusive package. We create with care, and that is demonstrated through our promise to stay sustainable, help with the diets and lifestyles of our consumers, and promote positive mental health change in our society.
